Magpies are seen as the messengers of the otherworld, motives of good and bad and one of the most saluted birds going 🖐. In folklore the magpie has a great association with foretelling ones future when encountering them depending on the amount you meet as the famous rhyme goes:
One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a secret,
That has never been told.
